U5-U14 Recreational League:
Age Groupings
CLSF offers a Recreational League for U5 (pre-Kindergarteners who turn 4 before Sept 1) through U-14 (eighth grade) players. Players are divided into age groups based on their grade in school. All U5 (pre-Kindergarten) and U6 (Kindergarten) teams are coed (both girls and boys). Beginning at the U7 age group (first grade), both coed and all-girls teams are offered. Single grade age groups are offered for U5 - U10 players. The U12 age group includes both 5th and 6th graders. The U14 age group includes both 7th and 8th graders. All teams are coached by volunteers. Your child will be placed on a team and does not need to try out.
Registration
Registration for the Recreational League is held in the spring via our website. For persons unable to register online, walk in registration is also held each Saturday in May at Soccerhouse located in Lippold Park. For more details please the news items listed on the Home Page. Additional inquiries may be directed to the CLSF Administrator at info@clsf.org
For those players unable to register for the Fall Session, registration for the Spring Session is opened each January. Players are eligible for placement on existing Rec League teams as roster openings permit. Players will be notified of their team placement for the Spring Session beginning about March 15.
Rec League Season
Players can expect to be contacted by their coach approximately August 20 as rosters become finalized. The Recreational League season is divided into two eight-week sessions. Due to weather conditions and calendar constraints, WE CANNOT GUARANTY that all 8 games scheduled for each session will be played. The Fall Session begins in September (first Saturday following Labor Day) and runs through the end of October. The Spring Session begins in April and is completed by the first weekend in June. All games are played on Saturdays at Lippold Park. Game times range between 8 AM and 4 PM. Practice times and locations are determined by the coach. Teams typically practice twice a week for about an hour beginning in that late afternoon or early evening at a local park or school.
Equipment
Each player will receive a jersey, shorts and socks. Players are required to wear shin guards, soccer appropriate shoes (no baseball or football shoes are permitted), and to provide their own ball. Age groups U5 through U8 use a size 3 ball; U9 through U12 a size 4 ball; and U14 a size 5 ball. No jewelry of any kind INCLUDING EARRINGS may be worn during games. Medical alert bracelets are permitted. If a player is required to wear corrective eyewear during games, only “rec specs” are permitted. Shaded rec specs are permitted. No street glasses may be worn. Casts may be worn in Recreational League games provided a doctor’s permission slip is made available to the referee before each game, and provided the referee determines that the cast is safe.
Dual Rec League/Competitive Team Participation Policy
Players who participate on a competitive (travel) team may participate on a CLSF Recreational League team, provided CLSF is advised of the competitive player's status at the time the player registers or prior to the time the player is rostered with a CLSF Recreational League team. FAILURE TO SO NOTIFY CLSF MAY RESULT IN THE REMOVAL OF THE PLAYER FROM THE CLSF RECREATIONAL LEAGUE or reassignment to another Rec League team at the discretion of CLSF. CLSF Force players who desire to participate on a Rec League team will be assessed an additional fee. CLSF policy requires that competitive team players be distributed equitably among CLSF Recreational League teams. Consequently CLSF may not be able to honor special requests by competitive team players for placement on specific Recreational League teams.
Girls High School Recreational League:
Girls Rec High School Soccer League teams (grades 9through 12) play in the Northern Illinois High School Recreational Soccer League (commonly known as the Blackmore League). The league is made up of teams from local communities that participate in scheduling matches. League matches are played on Sundays during the Fall. CLSF teams will travel to play some games in opposing teams’ communities. Home matches are played at Lippold Park. Girls Rec HSSL teams may also participate in NIHSRSL sponsored tournaments. Scheduling of such tournaments is by the NIHSRSL and not under the control of CLSF. Participation in tournaments is determined by each CLSF team’s coach. Some additional costs (including uniform as needed and tournament fees) may expected. Registration for the Girls Rec HSSL is held in the spring via our website. Walk in registration is also held at the Soccerhouse located in Lippold Park. For more details (including fee schedules) please consult the Registration page of this website or news items listed on the Home Page. Additional inquiries may be directed to the CLSF Administrator at info@clsf.org
Boys High School Recreational League:
Boys Rec High School Soccer League (H.S.S.L.) teams (grades 9-12) play an eight-week session which begins in April and is completed by the first weekend in June. Teams play an “in-house” schedule. All games are played at Lippold Park. Team rosters are made up of players from different schools and different ages. This keeps the teams balanced, friendly, and competitive. The program is popular because it provides an opportunity for those players who wish to play soccer, but are unable to practice due to other school or personal commitments. Please contact us at info@clsf.org for registration information.
REFUND POLICY
Requests for refunds must be in writing (email to info@clsf.org is acceptable). All refunds are subject to a $20 administrative fee per player. Requests received after a child has been rostered with a team are subject to a $50 fee. Players are rostered on teams on or before August 1. Players who elect not to play during the Spring season are not entitled to a partial refund. There will be no partial refunds once the Fall Session begins.
